Vision and Belief: Powering Your Business Forward

Updated: Aug 19

There’s one thing that will keep your business from growing the way you imagine it in your head.

Well, considering how many of us keep our expectations low, let me rephrase that: this stands in the way of being way more successful than what you see in your head.

The famous Business Coach, Tony Robbins, tells us the one thing that will keep us powering forward no matter what is this little thing we call “certainty”.

What does that mean?

“Certainty,” in this case, is a powerful force in bringing visions to life, shaping your mindset, your actions, and even how you interact with opportunities. It's about aligning your thoughts, feelings, and actions with your desired outcome.

Ever catch yourself listening to the raspy voice that sometimes whispers, sometimes shouts at you in a way only you can hear, saying:

 “That will never work.”

“You are never going to pull that off. You should just give up now.”

.

“That’s it. You blew it. Nobody wants that idea…that product…that deal.”

Introducing the opposite of certainty. Uncertainty.

Each decision feels like a gamble, and the constant second-guessing leaves you drained, doubting yourself, and often stuck in one place.

You're not alone. Although they may not show it, nearly every small business owner feels this way at times. (Remember, that voice we all hear is silent to everyone around us.)

Hey, my very smart and innovative Entrepreneurial Friend, the simple solution is to get solid

Get certain

Know how to “turn the certainty dial” on and, I promise your life will change. How do you do that? Let me show you.

The Power of Certainty

As we said previously, certainty is like standing on a gigantic boulder at the edge of the ocean. The waves crash, the weather pummels it, but it doesn’t budge.

Feel that inside your soul? Those are the feelings that must drive you before you can even think about the “how” of creating a business.

It’s seeing your thriving finished product with crystal clarity. It’s changing the voices because your belief is rock solid.

No more hoping or wishful thinking. It’s a deep-seated knowing.

That’s certainty.

From that place on top of the rock, what do the “voices” in your head say? (Listen closely.)

“I see it so clearly, it’s as if it already exists.”

“Every step I take brings me closer to what I see.”

“I am fully capable and I’m going to bring this vision to life.”

Can you imagine the confident action you could take from these kinds of beliefs?

Setbacks would only phase you briefly and then you’d be ready to stare that obstacle down.

You’d wake up in the morning with the same sense of excitement and anticipation you’d feel if everything was already done, happening, and complete.

I want this for you. Actually, I want this for myself.

Let’s find some ways you can get here to certainty—a belief, a vision so palpable you can taste its deliciousness like the sweetness of the orange you eat for breakfast.

Try one or two of these exercises to create and then keep empowering you to be able to turn the certainty button on whenever you need it.

Paint Your Business Portrait

Imagine your business as a blank canvas. You can buy the real canvas at the Dollar Store. While you’re there, get paints, too.

Or a large sheet of white paper and markers. Your vision. Your choice.

What colors will you use?

The important idea here: What story will it tell?

TAKE ACTION:

Draw what your business looks like when it's thriving. Don't worry about being an artist - just let your imagination flow.

Feel it in your soul. The story you want to tell. The problems you want to solve.

When you’re done, hang this picture where you can see it every day. This is going to help you with the next exercise.

Fuel Your Belief Engine

Think of your belief in yourself and your business being like the gas you put in your car.

Without that fuel, you won't get far.

But fill up your tank, and there's no limit to how far you can go.

Matt Mayberry says in his Entrepreneur article, "Thinking positive and empowering thoughts is one thing, but talking to yourself like a champion reconditions your thought process in an instant. When you form the habit of talking to yourself like a champion you don't give the negative and discouraging thoughts the time of day.

With power and conviction, repeat phrases such as, "I am the greatest at what I do," "There is nothing that I can't do when I fully commit myself," and "There is nothing ordinary about me. I am a champion.""

TAKE ACTION:

Create a "belief board" in your workspace. This is your “car”.

Now pin up quotes that inspire you, photos of people you admire, and notes from happy customers. This is the “gas”.

Let this board remind you of your potential every day.

Speaking of potential, have a look at the next exercise.

Build Your Success Ladder

Uncertainty views a big dream as if it were the top of a mountain, high up there, impossible to reach.

But every mountain is climbed one step at a time. Your business growth works the same way.

TAKE ACTION:

Write your big goal at the top of a piece of paper. (The Mountain Top.)

Stop and feel. Look at that goal and see yourself THERE. Planting the flag. Declaring the victory.

Then, start writing words that describe how it feels to be there, what you’re experiencing. Give breath to the strengths, the celebration, and how your life looks.

When you know you’re done, do one more thing.

Draw a ladder leading up to it. Now stand back and look at that ladder. The mountain top is your “what” and your “why”.The ladder is the “how”.

Let your certainty of how you want your life to look pull you up that ladder, one rung at a time.

What do you need to do that climbing? That’s next.

Grow Your Courage Muscles

Courage isn't about not being scared. It's about feeling the fear and taking action anyway. Like a muscle, the more you use it, the stronger it gets.

This is exactly how Elenor Roosevelt lived her life. She said, “Do something that scares you every day.”

I chuckled when I read someone’s comment about this quote. They said she wasn’t talking about the latest Netflix Slasher movie. She was talking about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.

And they’re right.

TAKE ACTION:

I dare you. Do one thing each week (we’ll start with each week) that scares you a little. It could be reaching out to a potential client or trying a new marketing strategy.

"Practice being courageous by overcoming little fears like meeting new people or eating alone in a restaurant before tackling something like taking the lead on a project or heading up a community toy drive, " Sherri Gordon advises in an article at verywellmind.com

By starting small," she continues, "You can get used to being courageous with minimal risk. With enough practice, you will get to the point where you can take bigger risks."

Then celebrate each brave action, no matter the outcome, because you just did something brave.

Your Business, Your Adventure

Instead of tossing and turning all night with worry over something in your life or your business, imagine waking up with a clear purpose, knowing exactly where you're headed and why.

Imagine feeling as if you are setting your feet on a huge solid boulder when you swing them out of bed. A rock that is “certainty”.

Your decisions come more easily because they're guided by your vision, not swayed by the ever-changing opinions of others.

When you know your 'why' and believe in your ability to achieve it, those daily tasks that once felt overwhelming become meaningful steps on your journey.

You're no longer building on shifting sand. You're constructing your dream business on a foundation of clarity and purpose. The noise of conflicting advice fades away, replaced by the confident sound of your own voice, leading your business forward.
